This year I placed a tomato cage to support my peony plant just as the new shoots appeared, so glad I did no more droopy flowers.

The garden is growing nicely. The above picture shows yesterdays harvest. That pickle sized cucumber was out of this world delicious.

Abby from Whileshenaps is hosting a sew-along, it inspired me to try the pattern. The pattern is 'The Peanut Baby' by Rachael Gander.

A few years back, one early spring day my father in law came over with two sticks and asked me where I would like them planted. 'what are they?' I asked. 'Grapes' he replied, 'oh ok plant them by the fence' I said, and so he did. One of the sticks has grown and I have trained it up and along the fence. The best I hoped from this vine was to pick some leaves each summer for stuffed vine leaves but something ate the leaves before I did so that hope was gone. Yesterday however I think we stuck gold, my son and I sampled  grapes from this vine and they were the sweetest grapes I have ever tasted.

spent some time yesterday afternoon watching the butterflies and bees feasting on the mint.

light rain today, a good time to bake, banana and walnut cake.

much to my sons delight we picked two cucumbers and three cherry tomatoes from the vegetable garden this morning.

more rain overnight. its good for the garden. back in the spring i had this vision of a wonderful red and yellow garden. taking a turn around the front garden this morning i did not notice much red, just yellow, yellow marigolds and yellow gladiolus
